I am currently on Lithium and feel like i don't have control over my own body, that no matter how much i try there will be this thing that I am choosing to put into myself stopping me. Its hard not think about where all this effort would have gotten me had i not had this medication fighting against me and slowing my metabolism ect..<br />I also felt like i couldn't show how much this was destroying me for fear of it being misinterpreted as vanity. My marriage had hit rock bottom because my husband was no longer attracted to me, over 10years I picked up 40kg being on lithium and sodium valproate. When I went off it I lost 20kg in 3 months, and being back on the weight is just going up. You are definitely on a strong recovery path! I also tried Lamictal monotherapy, but I had to add a low dose of Seroquel to keep my hypomania/mania in check. I sleep a little more than I'd like to, and it's hard to lose weight, but I am able to hold a full time job and live a pretty full life. I miss being in great shape, but it is a tradeoff I have had to make for stability. I'm always trying to improve my health and fitness although it is challenging with Seroquel on board. I definitely agree with trying to take therapeutic amounts of medication but not too much so it stifles emotions, cognition, and creativity. I also have had a good response with lamictal. I take 100 mg lamictal, 10 mg memantine, 600 mg lithium, and 125 mg Depakote. I adjust the depakote levels and the memantine if I'm feeling manic. If I'd choose just one drug to take it'd probably be lamictal. The cocktail is definitely better. It's antidepressant properties seem to be very potent on me. I've been very stable for the last 5 years of taking this cocktail of these drugs. I've been able to do well in a software applications developer job. I was resistant to taking medication from 18 to my mid 20s, and I dropped out of 2 different universities. Once, I intermittently started taking medication I started doing somewhat better and eventually finished my degree. Once I started with lamictal monotherapy I started to feel a lot better, far less depressed. I also started doing much better at my job, and I started running again. Eventually, mania struck again, but I've pivoted to a cocktail and so far I've been doing much better. Every medication they try on me has serious side effects. Nothing seems to help. They've tried numerous medications throughout the years. I can go weeks with no sleep. The sleep medications act as a depressant, so I've been at a loss of getting to have any kind of life. I haven't been able to work. I isolate myself most of the type & this is not me. When I'm healthy, I'm very social. I've been under psychiatric care for years & nothing seems to work. I've always been very sensitive to medications. So tired of not feeling well & the strain it puts on my husband. Any ideas?Zeporrahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15501482763681578370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6972132838514119677.post-24852968524687943592017-05-04T14:25:55.435-04:002017-05-04T14:25:55.435-04:00I have BSBS and it was a nightmare getting it. It knocked it down to $70. When I had United Healthcare it was only $15 with the savings card. So I would definitely take advantage of that. :) I was on Latuda when it first came out and didn't have any side effects. My sleep has been bad since I was first diagnosed with Bipolar. Interestingly one of the nurse practitioners actually said it would help with sleep? I went off Latuda around 6 months ago and am now unable to sleep, p doc thinks it's hypomania, so I'm back on it. Hoping everything will be figured it bc I miss sleep! Was on Zyprexa and Seroquel in the last and ate everything in site. I'm hoping Latuda will be a good experience.Jamiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06939026855965480319noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6972132838514119677.post-47730999376770685212016-06-25T14:40:14.588-04:002016-06-25T14:40:14.588-04:00How does anyone afford Latuda? $800.00 for a mont...How does anyone afford Latuda? $800.00 for a months supply.
